ca Entry Guidelines

 
JUDGING CRITERIA

Jurors will judge entries on the following criteria:  
1) Concept Statement (3-4 sentences that give a clear explanation of entry.)  
2) Creativity of Design (design innovation and uniqueness.) 
3) Function (usability and appropriateness of the designed object and material composition.)
4) Craftsmanship (durability, execution, and consistent detail, structural and aesthetic value.)
 

OTHER GUIDELINES

1. Entries are not limited to chairs, but MUST be furniture i.e.: tables, chairs, benches, sofas, bureaus, etc. 

2. Entries must be freestanding, and wall or ceiling mounted pieces will not be accepted.

3. Pieces must weigh less than 300 pounds and be original in design.

4. Pieces may draw inspiration from past or present furniture designs but may not directly copy.

People’s Choice Award

When entering the competition, it is not necessary to select a category you wish to enter nor is attendance at the gala required. Category placement will be at the jury’s discretion. People’s Choice Award is selected by Gala attendees. Prizes will be awarded in each category and awarded at the Chair Affair Gala.
